Pan Am Postcard

I have yet to finish watching Pan Am’s series premiere episode, and then I got this in the (snail) mail:

Now, I must admit this is VERY smart advertising, because it hits their target clientele (those late baby boomers who still remember postcards AND Pan Am) right on. Perhaps direct mail still works, and perhaps I should give Pan Am (the TV series) a second chance.

For those who are still obsessed with Still Alive (the song that plays during the end credits of Portal, written by Jonathan Coulton and performed by Ellen McLain as GLaDOS), Valve just made Songs to Test By, Portal 2′s soundtrack (Volume I), available for FREE download, along with 6 ringtones derived from the album.

Destination YYZ

Stumbled upon this video the other day at Vimeo. Kind of interesting to see how Toronto was seen through the eyes of a German tourist, in just 4 minutes and 37 seconds.

Honourable mentions include TTC, Tim Hortons, and Niagara Falls (in February), but make sure you don’t miss out on the joyfully dancing girls in the snow outside ROM (at 00:38).

Lonely’s Lunch by You Say Party

Inspired at least partly by the infamous police state during G20 Toronto 2010, You Say Party releases a new music video shot on location in India, and according to director Sean Wainsteim reflects the kind of discomfort associated when armed forces casually invade the civilian domain.
